Liminal Space

where we don’t want to be

Areas of Transition

The hotel hallway is a classic liminal space. In-between, transition areas, a place designed for a purpose but that purpose is not being realized at the moment you encounter the space. A place without a design fuctionality. A threshold area. “at the threshold between two different states of being.” “spaces between spaces” “threshold” or “boundary.” “twilight period”

“What does liminal space mean?

The term “liminal spaces” refers to places between destinations that aren’t meant to be existed in as much as passed through.”

Below you will see various liminal spaces and the audio that was recorded there.
